  • Panic at the Parking Garage III - The Revenge

Well, this is morbid. It looks as if our rat-maze of a parking garage has actually claimed a life.

This article and its follow-up do nothing to explain what possessed this man to jump six stories from the roof of the parking garage to his death, but it does take note of the fact that its walking doors are unlocked. (Actually, they're locked from the outside; there's no handle.) But considering that garage's history, I couldn't help but wonder if this guy couldn't find his way out and thought that dumpster in the picture would break his fall.

Yeah, that probably didn't happen. Still, this guy did jump from the top floor of a locked building. There must have been a sequence of events leading up to it. And, given past events...

Security has added parking garage walkthroughs to its rounds. I'm not sure why they didn't do that before. Probably an insurance thing. It's usually an insurance thing. Security isn't happy about it because it requires them to leave their post for long periods.

P.S. There IS a followup. All it really does is put a name to the victim.

I don't think this had anything to do with the garage itself, but probably just the highest point the guy could get to and jump from. Security probably wouldn't have stopped the guy if they'd found him. All that would have likely done is caused on poor sot to need therapy after witnessing it. Well, besides get the company off the hook if the family of the deceased decided to sue...
If I make no sense, I apologize. I'm constantly interrupted by an actual toddler.
