  • Funny Names You've Ecountered

I work in a call center and I'll the names that I come across are legit. They come directly off the customer's driver's license when the check out the rental car. I literally have saved a hundred or so great names (with a few stories to with them). Please share what you've come across. Rapscallion has told me this thread has be started before, but I thougt I'd rejuvenate it. It doesn't matter if it's a real name or an alias someone used (or tried to use.) All the names a have are in LAST/FIRST form. Some may take some imagination (what is short for Richard?) Here you go and have fun with it!!

Moderators: If this needs to go somewhere else just let me know or move it on over. Thanks!

        Fannie Leaks.

And she MARRIED into that name. Talk about really loving a guy...

I saw plenty at the bank I worked at. Some of my faves:

          John Sharter
Cherry Creases (yes, that was her real name)
Dick Butts (I never actually met this guy...he wrote checks to his granddaughter and she cashed them at our branch)

                  Classic:

                  Andrew Andrewson
                  John Johnson
                  etc.

Only Americans could come up with something like that.

Initials and surnames and surnames can often jar, too.

My ex sister-in-law was Sharon Melling (smelling)

And an ex-trainee was Sharon Hagger (and it was her maiden name, o dear o dear what were the parents thinking of?)

Some years ago, we had a guy running for public office. His name was Paul Nus. Thankfully, he used his entire first name and not just the first initial.

I briefly knew a very nice woman named (through marriage) Ginger Ale. She and a good friend were both members of an accountants' organization that attended many conventions and other meetings, where they would room together. Her friend's name? Cherry Coke. They were sometimes accused of being jokesters when they called to register for accomodations.

When I was in customer service, we used to pass around "the name of the day"... too bad I didn't write all of them down.

But, these are some incidents I remember...

                            Me: Thank you, Mr. Loser.
                            Caller: That's pronounced 'lowzer."
Me: I'll bet you never refer to high school as "the good old days" do you? [I didn't actually say that]

And then there was this guy, who was ordering new service...
Me: Would you also be interested in internet service, Mr. Gayman?
Caller: Hmm... let me ask my life partner... Paul, do we want internet service?

                            And...

Me: Could you verify your name? [Please say Richard, please say Richard, please say Richard. If you do, I might make it through this conversation.]
                            Caller: Small. Dick Small.
