  • That's not as easy as you think...

We know putting up the truck is first and foremost. However, this truck day was a bit more convoluted than usual.

Whatever can't fit on the shelf goes into the warehouse. Problem being, our warehouse is already stuffed to the gills and it's pissing everybody off. We aren't 'allowed' to work the warehouse until the truck is put away (but we can't have product sitting directly on the warehouse floor due to health regs so we have nowhere to put any backstock from the truck until we clear space in the racks...).

Product A and B were both moved from an out-of-the-way location on the salesfloor to a far more trafficked area. Product A has a lot more shelf space than it needs right now; we don't have a lot and it's OOS at the main warehouse (some of it is also quite pretty in the jar, and deserves to be seen). Product B is in the same bay, but on smaller shelves (the top 2). We got a shitload of product B on the truck, and both products have been moved to a more visible area so it will sell. I make an executive decision to swap product A and B (condense A to the top two smaller shelves, B gets the two entire lower shelves which are deeper so more product can fit)...this also gives me a chance to check dates on those items.

    Original:
    BBBBBBBBBB
    BBBBBBBBBB
    AAAAAAAAAA
    AAAAAAAAAA

    Change:
    AAAAAAAAAAA
    AAAAAAAAAAA
    BBBBBBBBBBB
    BBBBBBBBBBB

J sees this when we had already started taking product down, and while S is backing us up, both F and myself get our paws slapped. J's reasoning is that A is more expensive so it goes on the bottom...but that is at odds with "eyeline sells". Wouldn't you want to switch things up like that once in awhile? A has always been on the bottom so no duh it hasn't been moving. We also didn't realize that the switch would take as long as it did (I take part blame for that, I could have had F do the rest of the section but for some reason we were both working on the swap...didn't realize the mistake until we were too deep in the project). While I know we shouldn't do 'major' shuffling on Saturdays, that was the only way to fit everything. We thought T was also working from the truck, but turned out he was doing bevs for...3 hours. A full beverage run to all the QSR stations takes one hour tops if you're doing it right so what happened to the other 2 hours? He could have banged out at least one cart of stock in that time. I swear sometimes that boy needs an overseer to get anything done.

TL;DR: Swapped product on shelves to make room for everything like we should, J couldn't see why we did that. CW took 3 hours to do something that even on a busy day should only take 1.
