Alright! Start off Braggers Base with a bang!

As I gleefully reported on the temp boards, I have a new job. It came about as I was helping a customer last Sunday. I helped him find what I was looking for (Velcro patches), and was chatting with him (it was a slow day). He asked me how long I had worked in parts, and if I enjoyed it. After I have answered him (2 years or so, and yes) he mentioned that he worked at a local car dealership in the parts department, and that I should give him a call if I wanted something different.

I figured that he was just screwing with me, but for my amusement and his, on my day off (Tuesday) I went to the dealership with a resume in my hand. I get there, he mentions the pay and the hours (both better than my current situation) and asks me if that's good, and when can I start?

I'm floored by the speed of all of this, but mention that the 17th would work fine for me, and that I would be more than happy to work here. He shakes my hand, thanks me, and gives me the grand tour.

And lest you think that this is an exception, a friend of mine in town happens to be dating a salesman at another car dealership in town. I mentioned what happened to me, and she then said that, if I wanted, she could talk to her boyfriend, and he could get me a job there! I said no thanks, but I appreciated the offer nonetheless.

And finally, I was helping a customer today near the end of my shift. He wanted an alternator for his car. I explained the kinds we had and helped him out with the prices-fairly basic stuff. As I cashed him out, he asked me what Crappy Tire was like. When I asked him why, he mentioned that he was from a third, completely different, car dealership, and that if I wanted one, he would give me a job! I said thanks, but no thanks, I've got another job.

    When it rains, it pours!

Man, I wish people would randomly offer me a new job, but I should probably just stick with the one I've got until I'm done college. Then I'm thinking of moving out-of-province, both to find a job and to get away from my parents.

            Wow!

I work with a lot of car-dealership types, but not once have any of them offered me a job...what am I doing wrong here?? Seriously, that is just too cool for words, Spiffy, and sounds like you deserved the triple-scoop of goodness after your other job. Congrats and good luck in the new spot!
