    guest: yea Dave, I want to rent this property and the girl told me the owner wont take a discount

    Me: let me look it up....yea ma'am that is correct

    Guest: you know every year, you send me these flyers and every year, I am not eligible for a discount. Why is that?

    Me: it depends on the property you want to rent, if you want a 7 bedroom oceanfront house with a pool, most likely the owner is not going to allow a discount

    Guest: well I am insisting on a discount for this property and I am not lowering my standards to suit you. In fact, 10% is not even good enough. Thart doesnt even cover the taxes. You should be giving me a 20% discount at the very least.

    Me: I cant do that

    Guest: call the owner and tell them you are discounting it whether they like it or not.

    Me: we dont call owners about rates

    Guest: I am not paying the full rate

    Me: well then you cant have it

    Guest: that's it.......I've had it. I am gonna call the better business bureau unless I get this discount.

    Did she talk to the manager? Yes

    Did she get her 20% discount? No, she got 25% off.....I was outraged

    Now she feels vindicated and I feel like the dumbass

        can we make a proposal... for house bill (whatever number they are up to) that all spineless managers have their citizenship revoked and be deported to some 3rd world country... those places are already screwed up so it's not as if those managers could do any more damage.

          And to think you probably have gotten that property rented out to some one a lot nicer who would have readily paid the full price. The world is getting too full of people without backbones.

            What did the manager tell the owner - 'cause if I owned the unit and some spineless manager gave someone a 25% discount you can bet that I wouldn't be using that company to rent out my property anymore. Is there a rule that only your company can handle the rentals?

                Does this manager of yours have a spine or does he run the operation from a bed, flat on his back?

                That guy needs to grow a spine before he ends up giving these rentals away.

                  Le sigh....


                  Once again we see that money talks. I have to believe a big reason for the manager's spinelessness is because his customers are high-rollers with money to burn (renting a vacation villa is something I can't afford and neither can any friends or relatives of mine).

                  And because according to another of the OP's posts, there's a competing company with their villas not too far away. In which case it would be beneficial to send these morons over there simply by not caving in to them.

                  I'd also tip off the owner of the property about the discount. That way the manager can learn about what happens when you piss off a good customer to placate a PITA.

                      OMFG!!! What a spineless manager you have. Next time just pass the sc's off to your manager from the start, that way you won't feel like an ass when the sc's get their way.

                      I told my GM the one time he did that to me that if he continued to bow down to the sc's after I stood up to them that I would take a demotion.
                      If you don't like my attitude, talk to the manager!!! Oh, wait, that would be me!!

                        Bunch of pansy ass people. That is why we need to look at our promotion process. Quit promoting sycophants and wimps who do their paperwork on time while the rest of their charge crumbles around them and start promoting people who won't back down from a rabid "patron" and focus on profitable business.

                        I feel for some of you folks. My sales manager is a person afraid of confrontation but those of us in charge of the sales floor rarely let the situation get to her.

                            Oh come on. How do managers get a position like that if they cannot stand by company policies. I hate hearing stories like that.

                            I'm sorry that that vindictive bitch got her way.

                            What sucks even more is when you get a phone customer who gets their way, and then recognize you as the person on the phone when they come in to the establishment. Its a great day for that customer, because then they can show their smug face to you, knowing they got their way when you told them no. Thats a double-arrrrrggggh.

                            And so thats why we read articles in magazines advising people to be jerks to the people behind the counter because eventually, those customers will get what they want.

                              I may have to check out your vacation rentals. So far I can a 25% discount by demanding if from the supervisor, and another 30% if I get a unit without a towel warmer.
