  • Awesome new job!

So last week I drove across the state for an interview to be a physical therapist assistant. It's with a company that I interned with. It's out in the middle of the desert (I live on the coast where there are trees and ocean and mountains), but the people were great and the facilities were great (I'd be working at two of the six locations they have there). The schedule was four 10's with three days off, so that was appealing, too.

I got the job, and I got more money than I asked for!

I start at the end of this month, which means I need to scramble. I'm gonna leave my stuff behind and do the hotel thing while I start the job and apartment hunt.

I'll be making more than double what I currently make. The place I am moving too also has a lower cost of living, so it'll be more money + cheaper living. The people there seem great, too! They are very laid back facilities.

I know zero people there, but it still feels like I'm going in the right direction.

Just gotta sort through the relocation. They didn't offer any relocation assistance. The pay will still be worth it, though. I have enough in savings to spring for the move myself. I have an application on a rental that was unlisted when I applied (turns out friend's ex-sister-in-law does rental properties there) so I am hoping that works out, and I am getting a discounted UHaul through another friend. I suckered a third friend into physically assisting with the move.

    Wish me luck!

Good luck! You deserve it, and get there safely! Please check in after you're settled there so we know you're ok <3

YES! Congrats. So instead of the coastal climate you'll be in the desert? Budget for AC!

Awesome! Congrats on the new job! I also wish you better luck with your U-haul than I have had. Two truck failures and two massive office screw-ups in four times I've used them... Never again!

(One move was fine. On one, I only put about four miles on it so the fuel tank was still on "F". They stuffed more gas in it anyway and charged me extortionate rates for it. On one, the truck had a tire failure that they wanted to blame me for and finally agreed not to. On the fourth, the truck puked its transmission, my stuff got damaged when the truck was towed, they told me where to leave the truck, then tried to charge me for many days extra rental because I didn't return it...)

Yeah. We have to go over a major mountain pass and two smaller passes to get there, and I've never driven a UHaul before. Friend has so she'll be driving, but still has me anxious. I'm terrified we're gonna burn it out on the climb or lose control on the descent or something. I'm just anxious something's gonna go wrong, because so far things have been going right and it's kinda freaking me out. At least this is a good time of year to do it before the snow sets in.
