I was offered two jobs within a week. One paid slightly more, but the one I've accepted lets me be a "mobile worker", i.e., I will only rarely have to come into the office; the last person in this position came in about once a quarter. Work from home unless I'm traveling (which I do relatively frequently), working in shorts and t-shirt, getting up later, no more commute in one of the worst traffic cities in the country - I'm so psyched! We've been looking for a house, and now the options for locations have expanded dramatically because of this.

Congrats to you!!“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.
One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." -- John Rogers

I worked at home for 11 years doing medical transcription, but didn't have to go into the office since they were in Ohio and I was in Oregon. Just make sure you make it clear to friends and family that you're working and not just sitting around in shorts and T-shirt, or you'll have people stopping by to chat or otherwise waste time, or wanting you to run errands for them because you "aren't really working." While I never encountered that, some of my colleagues did.

Well, I don't know yet how much time will actually be at home. I am a trainer, and will conduct classes in town and across the state, as well as monitoring other trainers so travel will be a big part of my duties. Still, that beats the hell out of my current sit at a desk in a cubicle racket.Life's too short to drink cheap beer
