Same goes for Sony, and I guess all Droids that have the JellyBean OS or higher. My cellphone also has a function that automatically blocks data roaming the same moment you cross a border.
My phone had gingerbread and went the same way. My boyfriend upgraded to ice cream sandwich (before his phone borked it) and had the same function.
He now uses cyanogen I believe (I have an iPhone)
