  • wedding story, what happened?

You have all asked me how the wedding story from one of my previous posts turned out. As far as I know, they had the wedding elsewhere although I am not 100% sure where. The manager did give them a full refund less a $250 cleaning fee. One person said she was a bitch for not just allowing the wedding to go on. Well this particular piece of property is well suited for weddings. We get people all the time asking if they can have a wedding there. When this property owner came on our program, he made it crystal clear that he did not want any weddings or wedding receptions held there. If my manager had allowed the wedding to continue, the owner would be livid and besides, they signed a contract agreeing not to have the wedding there. In a case like this, there was no room for flexibility. I had a similar situation with a frat group last year. I told the guy we dont rent to fraternities so this bastard has his buddy call and say they are here for a business trip. One of my coworkers got suspicious so she called him and said that they had to provide proof at check in that they are over the age of 25. He gave her some excuse that they couldnt do that because they would be arriving after the office closed. She said she lived on the island and she would meet them at the check in office when they arrived to check ID's. and he said he wanted to back out of the reservation because he felt like we didnt trust him. The manager gave them a refund but charged a 20% cancellation fee.

Then it is no wonder dear old Dad did not show up with the bride and Mom. He knew he had screwed up big time and you would expose him.
I cannot wait to hear whether they follow through with the suit. Won't that contract be fun to pull out and show Dad's attorney after he demands a few hundred thousand in damages?

I would not make a good property manager in a corporate scheme of things.

I'd record all calls to the reception* and if this sort of deal happened, I would be more than happy to play the recording for the mom and the wife. Then tell them to GTFO and fight the credit card dispute that I know would happen.

*The staff would know that they would be recorded and if the customer would swear first, the staff would know I have their backs.

Oh, man. Daddy screwed himself up. I feel sorry for the bride now.

I would have showed darling daughter daddy's signature on the form after highlighting the part where is says "no wedddings."

EPIC FAIL on daddy's part. And no, your managers not a bitch. She was just doing her job, and I applaud her for cancelling it. It's always nice to see a manager who has some balls (Or ovaries).

Just out of curiosity? Why doesn't the owner want weddings on the property?

If it's anything like around here (tourist-heavy seasonal crowd) where individual houses are rented, usually by the week, most owners don't want weddings because of parking issues, property damage, permit issues, noise ordinances, etc., all of which the owner is held liable for. Plus, as is demonstrated time and time again, brides are crazy and weddings make most otherwise (partially) sane people act like spoiled destructive brats.

my guess is because he used to allow them but some douche never cleaned up and the owner had to deal with himself and decided no more...
the hotel I'm at used to allow pets... but then one owner brought in a pet that was infested with flees and infested the room... we've had exterminators out several times and the infestation still hasn't been fully irradicated... and may even be spreading, so now unless it is an animal that we are required to allow by law there is no way in hell that an animal is being allowed in that hotel because of how much that one is costing us.

personally i don't see why they should even get a refund. dad booked the property fully intending to have the wedding there, despite being told it wasn't allowed.

why should he get his money back for lying?

My question is, what type of rental were they refunded for? If they were renting a property, as in a home, why would they only be charged a nominal "cleaning fee". This was pretty generous, considering the business would have to clean the home as well as deal with whatever destruction the wedding setup caused. That's a lot of trash and desroyed lawn for a measley $250.00.

I agree that dear old dad should not have gotten any sort of refund. Since the contract that he signed stated "no weddings," by trying to have a wedding there, he clearly breached the contract, therefore, no refund.

I have to admit, in a way, I hope he does file suit, as long as he decides to have the case decided on Judge Joe or Judge Judy. Watching either of them rip this guy a new one would be must-see television.

There is absolutely NO reason why a refund should've been given.

                          None.

                          Nope.
