  • More SC's arrested

To the SC's in my bar...please behave. We already had the smoker twins who managed to get themselves arrested after throwing a briefcase at me, don't think we're afraid to call the cops on you!

I wasn't technically involved in any of this, as I had finished my shift and was having a few beers in the bar with a friend. Service had stopped, and my co-workers were going around asking people to drink up and leave.

A couple were sat next to one of the exits. They completely ignored all of the requests and they ended up being the only people left in the bar. Co-worker went over, asked them to leave again, and proceeded to open the exit doors they were sat next to. Another co-worker went over to keep her company.

All of a sudden, all I hear is "TAKE THAT BITCH!" and a MASSIVE jet of water coming out of the area they were in. My two co-workers starting running across the bar, screaming my managers name. One of them was SOAKED from head to toe.

Everyone who was working and myself ran over to the exits. The couple were gone, and a FIRE EXTINGUISHER was lying on the floor.

The couple did not like being asked to leave, so they unhooked it from the wall, and proceeded to shoot my co-worker with it! She was absolutely drenched, she looked like a drowned rat. Also, the water in the extinguisher was treated water, so her eyes were bright red and itchy. The strong chemically smell was also making her wheeze and cough.

The carpets were soaked, the quiz machines were soaked, lights were out, the water was EVERYWHERE.

Manager called the police whilst I looked through the security camera footage (I seem to be the only person who knows how to work it!) We had the CLEAREST images EVER of them doing it. They did it right in front of the camera in a well lit area.

They were picked up by the police...the guy was caught urinating at our bins...so not only did they trash the bar and assault a member of staff, they didn't even attempt a decent getaway!

They have been charged with assault and criminal damage

    But wait...there's more!

The next day they came in for a drink! Someone who was working the night before went up to them.

    CW: Get out!
    SC: Wha...wha..why?
CW: You bloody well know why. After what you did last night! We're pressing charges! Get out! NOW!
SC: It...it...it...it wasn't me! It was my identical twin!
CW: Well maybe you should have a word with your identical twin...because he's fucking your girlfriend!

    They stormed out...looking very offended.

I don't know what's going to happen now. I will try and keep you all updated, but I only have four shifts to go before I leave!

Damn man - when it rains, it pours for you folks. Makes me glad I don't do the bar thing anymore.

I admit it - I'm surprised. I keep assuming folks can't get any dumber and then I'm disappointed. You've got to be really ballsy, really stupid or one hell of an alcoholic to come back the next freaking day.

At least I hope your co-worker apologized for offending them. G-d forbid you lose their business!

Not sure where you are but in the UK bail works differently to the US.

When an arrest is made the suspect will be interviewed under caution and a file will be prepared by the officer in the case (normally, but not always the arresting officer).

Within the file will be an incredible amount of paperwork but will contain statements from the IP (victim) witnesses, what other evidence is available (CCTV/DNA/Fingerprints etc). Once this is put together the officer will then go to the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) for a charge decision, if the CPS require more evidence, or say the CCTV isn't yet available the CPS will ask for more evidence and the Custody Sgt will then set bail for the offender. This means that the officer then has more time to collate and collect evidence.

Unless these are very serious offences bail is normally granted, but there may be conditions attached.

            HOWEVER

If a decision was made that there was insufficent evidence for assault (for whatever reason) the criminal damage aspect may have been dealt with by means of a penalty notice for disorder (essentially an £80 on the spot fine), so they may not even be under bail conditions.
A PSA, if I may, as well as another.

That is some of the most stupid I've ever seen... going BACK to the same bar where you assaulted one of the staff, and using a lame excuse like "Uh, it was my identical twin!"

                  He deserves to be humiliated.

But that comeback about "he's fucking your girlfriend." GENIUS.

I've been working at The Bar for two years now (just celebrated my two year anniversary, thank you very much!), and can only recall one jackass that I caused to get arrested. And I almost felt sorry for that guy, to be honest!

                    They made bail?!?
The OP was in the UK, as has been stated, but an incident like that even here in the US might not cause them to be in jail for more than a few hours.

Understanding I am not in law enforcement, so this is mere conjecture based on what I have seen, experienced, or had related to me by others...my guess is that the charges in the case would have all been misdemeanors, including the assault. (Yes, there is both felony and misdemeanor assault.) I know that the victim doesn't feel that it was minor, but it is not like the SC clocked her over the head with the fire extinguisher. I am not excusing his actions, mind you, just trying to explain why he could have been back on the street quickly.

So, let's say the two charges against them would have been misdemeanors. Let's also say, for the sake of argument, that they had no prior criminal record. There are several possibilities for what could have happened.

                    1. The police pick them up and cite them, but do not formally arrest them. The case goes to the DA, who then will decide whether or not to file charges based upon the evidence.
                    2. The police pick them up and arrest them, and after spending some time in jail that night, they are released on their own recognizance (OR'd, as it's called), which is basically them promising to show up for their court date, and the judge accepting their word based on no prior criminal history, blah blah blah.
                    3. The police arrest them, the judge sets a bond of however much he decides, and if they have a decent amount of money, they make bail, merely by hiring a bail bondsman, paying him 10% of the bond, and coming up with something for collateral for the rest of the bond (car, house, etc.) that, if they don't show up for their court date, they forfeit to the bail bondsman.

All in all, it wouldn't surprise me at all if this happened in the US and they were back on the street the next day.

Now, going back to the same bar DID surprise me. Not only is it ridiculously stupid, but oftentimes in such cases (at least in the U.S.), part of the release provisions of the defendant, whether OR'd or bonded out, is that they will not have any contact with the victims, nor will they return to the scene of the incident, at least until the case is resolved in court.

NOT that a judge's instructions would mean walrus puckey to these mental munchkins, of course.
