  • Yes, she was asking for your help to take your job from you.

My wife had a photo shoot the other day with 1800 Pet Meds. When her friend got word of this she gave my wife her card saying "I used to work with them, give them my card to let them know I am interested in working with them". She and her (soon to be ex) husband used to work with them but 1800 Pet Meds decided to stop using them (no reason given).

Of course, my wife didn't considering that the person she got hired for might not be too happy with my wife giving the people from 1800Pet Meds the competition's information.

My wife doesn't see it this way but I think her "friend" was asking my wife to help her backstab my wife (by trying to take a job from her). There aren't a lot of calls for pet pictures, especially from these people (although they are going to do a major expansion soon). They also have similar dogs (unless her friend is going to use other people's dogs that she's pet sitting / boarding at the time - but that's another can of worms).

This isn't the first time this "friend" has done similar. My wife had a vet who recommended us (our own vet - we're even good friends with them) and she knowingly went there to ask them to recommend her exclusively.

She also got upset at my wife because she "invaded" her "territory" because my wife has a client near her. My wife has had this client a LONG time before she knew this friend and even longer before this friend moved into the area.

Add in the fact that her friend being as unstable (emotionally and psychologically) as sodium in water (as well as saying things like "all men will cheat if given the opportunity and I can prove it with your husband" (to my wife)), my wife wonders why I don't trust her anymore (not that I trusted her much in the past).

Am I reading too much into this?

This is the same as modeling/acting: If you're in the same business, they are your competitor. Last I saw, Wal-Mart didn't advertise for K-Mart and trying to give another photographer's information to a potential client is even more foolish since there's less clients to go around. Are you reading too much into this? Two words:

        HELL NO

She is trying to sabotage your wife (and your marriage, it seems). She's at best a nuisance and at worse, poison.
I have a...thing. Wanna see it?

The funny thing is that she suspected that her (soon to be ex) husband was cheating on her so she cheated on him. Turns out, he didn't cheat on her.

As for her trying to do that, she would have to be pretty desperate plus she is about as far away from my type as possible. I wouldn't be interested in her even if I was single and desperate!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees it the way I was seeing it, too (with the competition).

It's amazing how this prson claims my wife isn't as good as a dog person as she is, isn't as good as a trainer yet is always trying to copy my wife.

Now, this person is importing a vlcak. Why? So she can be the first person to put a title on one (heh, I think if it hasn't been done yet, my wife will do it). She wants one to make her look good. I know, we can't stop her from getting one but she's getting one for the wrong reasons.

Its a breed of dog from Czechoslovakia.

Two threads on Luna (our Vlcak - the first female born in the USA):

              http://www.customerssuck.com/board/s...ighlight=vlcak
              http://www.wolfdog.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13562

Wolfdog.org has a lot of information on them too as well as:
              http://vlcaks.com/index.php?option=c...d=47&Itemid=55
              http://vlcaks.com/index.php?option=c...d=48&Itemid=56

              (Yes, vlcaks.com is my site)

Edit - I just noticed you typed "vicak" (with an i as in Indiana), it's vlcak (with an L as in Larry). Roughly translate from the Czech language to "alsatian".

LOL! Thanks for correcting me. I didn't see that it was an 'l.' No wonder I couldn't find it! FYI: A Vicak is a latvian car.

                Adorable lil puppy!

I'm in the same business as your wife, this is just the type of person she needs to stay away from. Just association Business wise with this lady could hurt your wife's business, giving out cards is a bad idea unless this lady does specialized stuff and she is fantastic at it. You recommend someone who is bad or screws up or just not what someone is looking for, your wife is taken the same way or is blamed for a production going wrong. I've seen it happen.

Some trainers and breeders are catty my goodness do claws come out in some people. It bites since most of the time having the right connections helps a great deal, it's just watching out on who will stab you in the back for the higher paying gig.

Maybe I've seen it more since I'm younger, I have a background in both horses and dogs that scares other trainers (I've had a stable owner tell me that and I lost out on a job because of it). They see the new girl walk in and wonder if they are being replaced. Which for me isn't the case, I'm either there to learn, or to help.

Vlcak is an awesome breed, I'd love to see one in person sometime but to get one just to out shine your wife? Ugh, if she isn't prepared she is going to be in a lot of trouble, heck getting a boarder collie can spell trouble for someone who isn't prepared for it.

To reply to your actual topic...

I would advise your wife to steer clear of this lady. She sounds like a manipulative user (not the drug kind :P ) and is just going to keep trying to stab your wife in the back.

                      ....to reply to the other....

Now I want a Vlcak puppy.... they are SO CUTE ^_^ *cuddle cuddle cuddle*

Now, her friend has paid for the puppy and it's being shipped here - her friend asked my wife if she could help her "sell" the puppy if it "didn't work out".

                        WTF?

Any breed of dog can be trouble if you're not prepared to put in the time and energy, yes, even greyhounds, collies, and labs.

If you're in the USA there's some pockets of them - our Breeder is in VA, we're in south Florida, and I think there is one in Indianapolis and one in Seattle. There are a lot in Europe, too. I think the UK is actually behind the USA now but that's because a female who was supposed to be a brood bitch for the UK was killed in a car accident (or something like that) and then there was some issue with the UK kennel club.

I actually got harsh with my wife over this. She's not the best judge of character and she's been burned many times before (just read some of my other threads). My wife said "well, she is nice" and I had enough - I listed off at least half a dozen people she thought was nice who severely backstabbed her in the past - and she let them.

She's still not listening. Thank god I'm here to tell my wife NO and HELL NO many times.

                          I'm in New England.
My biggest pet peeve is people getting dogs they aren't ready for then get rid of them. I had a client who kept her wheaten puppy tied to the kitchen table. They got it for their 8 year old son on a whim and the kid surprisingly didn't take care of it like he promised and the adults didn't want to do anything with it. Luckily I knew someone who was looking for a dog like that and got him to a new home quickly.

I'm similar to your wife, but I'm not as trusting as I used to be, not with the boss I have now, so it's mostly getting burned in my effort to help an animal.

Good thing you are there to tell your wife no, pretty sure that's why my best friend invested in foam darts to get me to listen...suddenly I understand why he did that.

Born and raised in NH here (living in FL now).

I don't think there are any vlcaks in New Englad at this time so the closest would be our breder in Virginia.

I'm in CT, I'd love to own one at some point. We had a shep x collie x wolf and who knows what else mix and her pup when I was little. Dad ended up with them because mama dog was trouble, the original owner found her treading water in the basement because she got bored and turned a pipe into a toy. We ended up with a pup after an escape...They were great dogs I still miss them after gosh I think its going to be close to 17 years since they passed.

Luna is a beautiful girl you are very lucky, I'm a total sucker for pups with bat ears.
