A few stories from my Uscan shift today:
Sorry you're so helpless
I pulled a woman and her husband over to use Uscan that were waiting on line. They type in their phone number because they don't have their card, and it goes through. However, they apparently didn't see that it did. Next thing I know, the woman says "You told us to come here and this thing is not working!" I go over to them, ask what's wrong, the man tells me he's trying to put in his phone number but it's not letting him, I point out that his card is there already, he denies it, I point to the card number, and then they finally realize it and start scanning.
I had to go over to them at least 3 times to help, including when it would not let them put in corn because the man was fiddling with the bags and then they put the corn in the bag without putting it through. As they leave, I hear the woman say "He made us come here and all he did was stand there!"
1. They did not HAVE to come and use it. All I did was ask because we are supposed to when there are lines.
2. I came over to help you SEVERAL times! It's not my fault you can't figure out what's going on!
Apparently taxes are a new thing and our store has nothing in the refrigerators
A woman and I assume her mother used the Uscan and the whole time they did nothing but complain. They complained about the Uscan itself and that there was nothing in the refrigerators anywhere, including tofu that she wanted. Then at the end of the order when it adds the tax on to the total they complain that the total is higher now. I tell them that sales tax was added on and then one of the women says "All the things they do now!" like taxes are something brand new
Mr. I refuse to do anything myself or learn
An older man using one of our motorized carts came up to the Uscan podium and handed me his items. I tell him this is not a register and he needs to use one of the machines. He yells out "Well I don't know how to use any of these!" so I tell him I will help him. So I scan his items and then hit the Pay now button to get to the payment screen. He stares at it for a second and asks "What am I supposed to do now?!" and I see that he's holding a $20 bill so I tell him to hit cash and then put the bill in the bill acceptor. His response? "Well I don't know how to do that!" (Because it's so hard to push a button and put a bill in
) On top of this, he left the motorized cart right in the middle of the walkway so that no one would be able to push a cart past!
