(Sorry - turned out a bit long)
I was walking home Wednesday and got to the corner where i exit the estate.
I saw a large truck easing around the corner and had no idea why but just stopped where I was (maybe 4 car lengths from the corner?). The driver and passenger had already seen me but didn't give any indication of any problem.
Its only after I stop that I realise that this truck (a cab and full trailer) is towing another truck with a cab and a boat on a trailer behind it. There is no one in the second truck.
I've already stopped but I start feeling very uneasy and back up a couple more car lengths. Thank goodness I did as the second truck totally cut the corner and the side of the boat nearly scraped the side of the building on the corner.
If I hadn't actually stayed out of the way I would have probably been in between the boat and the corner at that point and I don't think the truck would have been able to stop in time. Whilst I appreciate the fact that the driver has little control when towing I have a couple of issues.
1) Surely a truck towing another truck isn't allowed? And shouldn't someone be in the second cab for safety?
2) The driver and passenger definitely saw me before i stopped and yet made no attempt to either stop or ask me to step back. At the time i saw them I couldn't see that they were towing and apart from a reasonably low speed there were no obvious clues.
Luckily I am very careful around corners, roads etc and cars and don't assume people will act reasonably! (mainly because I have crappy balance and trip up too often).
