  • So you will outright question my integrity? (eBay)

So, I am an Orlando Magic Season Ticket Holder and am trying to save money for a trip to Europe, so I am selling my tickets to several games. I have 100% feedback with a score of 237 and I have been on eBay since 2002.

Some guy with a feedback score of 1, that's right, 1 just e-mailed me and asked "are these tickets legit?"

    WTF?

Well, he could have been burned like me. I bought a DVD from a seller with over three thousand positive feedbacks. Bummed me out, it was insanely obviously bootleg. I sent them a fairly incendiary message (my bad), and promptly filed a complaint with Ebay. They demanded I ship it back first, I said sure, let me finish taking pictures of it so I can show it to the DVD companies, and send me the return address.

I got my money back, they somehow changed their mind on wanting it back, and a week later they were no longer on Ebay.

...eventually did finally find a legit My Neighbor Totoro copy. And then a year later Disney re-released it. <facepalm>

I wouldn't question the legitimacy of your tickets, but then again I wouldn't be buying sporting event tickets on ebay.

They seem to have no problem with the tidal waves of Chinese counterfeit crap being peddled on their site, so it would probably be very easy for counterfeit tickets to be sold there as well.

That's just silly, if someone was selling fake tickets it's not like they would reply "Oh yeah, now that you mention it they're totally fake".

I go through stubhub, if the tickets are fake they will find you as good or better tickets or refund you including all processing fees.
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

If he's going to ask dumbass questions, I'd give him a dumbass answer like, "Nooooo! They're American!"

I love how it's always the ones with a pitiful feedback score who ask the dumbest questions. Every time I've had some idjit ask me something ridiculous, it was always someone who just joined the site a week prior or something.

I am glad he ended up not winning. Not up to dealing with BS drama. As he was bidding, he sent me another e-mail and said "Oh, btw, I need 3 tickets."

I have a feeling e-mailing him the tickets and having him claim them over the Orlando Magic Ticket Exchange (Ticketmaster product) would cause another 40 e-mails.

And yes, I agree, if I were scamming tickets, is asking if they are legit some sort of truth syrum? And where did he get the idea that I could "oh by the way" get another ticket?

The auction winner paid instantly, claimed the tickets on the Ticket Exchange, and printed them. Ahhhhhhhh dealing with smart people. So nice.

I always wondered why I got so much praise on Ebay when I paid immediately (or the next morning/time I was home if it ended at an odd time). Then I came here...
I am so SO glad I was not present for this. There would have been an unpleasant duct tape incident. - Joi

I've seen so much questionable stuff on Ebay, that sometimes it seems like I should ask basic questions like this is a new screen right or this phone has not previously been used when it's marked as new. It's shocking how many cellphones were marked as "new" and in the description said that it was used for a year.

Then you have some companies that sell "photos" of dresses. I was like, wtf? When I was looking for a cheap dress to turn into a zombie.

This would be likely be considered keyword spamming by ebay, and can be reported.

That is if ebay hasn't decided to lower their standards even farther and not recognize that as a violation anymore.

What I'd like to know is if ebay keeps screwing over the sellers like they have been, how are they going to generate the revenue that they'd get from a winning auction if sellers no longer list items there?

Their rules affect small sellers more than they do large ones, so they have a lot of high-volume sellers that make up for the revenue they lose from the smaller ones leaving.
