  • Humble Bundle - get great games and help charity!

(Note for the moderators: I've cleared this with Raps and Madmike via PM, please forward any queries to Raps)

As you may or may not be aware, a site exists called Humble Bundle, which every 1-2 weeks offers a variety of games, usually by a particular company or within a set theme, allowing people to pay whatever they deem worthy (minimum $1), with 2+ extra "unlockable" games if you pay more than whatever the average is (usually around $5-6)

When making a donation, you also get to determine how much goes to who - the developers, charity or the Humble Bundle webhosting (personally I put the majority to charity usually, with maybe a 20% cut to the studios and a 5% cut to the hosts)

In this thread I will keep the first post updated with the latest deals and roughly when a particular deal is expected to end, plus whether it is worth going for the unlockables or not.

To check them out yourself, go to http://humblebundle.com and click the "humble bundle" or "humble weekly bundle" links at the top of the page.

Current Humble Main Bundle - Warner Brothers Games
    Closes: November 19th, 2013
    Basic bundle:
    Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY (Windows/Steam)
    F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin (Windows/Steam)
    F.E.A.R 3 (Windows/Steam)
Lord of the Rings: War in the North (Windows/Steam)

Unlockables (pay more than the average)
    Batman: Arkham City GOTY (Windows/Apple/Steam)
    Scribblenauts Unlimited (Windows/Steam)
    Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection (Windows/Steam)
Guardians of Middle-Earth with "Smaug's Treasure" DLC (Windows/Steam)

The Lord of the Rings Online Steely Dawn Starter Pack (Windows/Apple/Steam)
Gotham City Impostors Professional Kit (Windows/Steam)
Millennium Skins Pack for Batman: Arkham Origins. (Windows/Steam)

Should I pay more than the average for the extras? YES! As of November 15th, the requirement to unlock the extra games is only US$4.69 (though this will go up as more people buy the games) and you get a LOT of games for your money!

if you buy a humble bundle check back again afterwards games sometimes get added to the current bundle and you'll get them retroactively and they make it really easy to look at past purchases.

I Humble Bundles! I've participated on nearly every main one, and a few of the Weekly Bundles.

It's a perfect way of getting some great games, usually platform-independent and DRM-free, relatively cheap. You get more games (and they usually add 2-3 more games at the midpoint) if you meet of exceed the average donation, and know that most, if not all, of the proceeds go to charities!

yup, have bought many of these before, often even when i only wanted the one game or once even none at all to help the developer.

Keep in mind that if you own some of the games but want other games in the package, you can gift individual games to other people (friends, etc)

EDIT: Also added the latest weekly bundle.

They don't let you do this with the Steam copies anymore last I saw. Which kinda blows. Though I understand why. ( People were reselling the keys ).

Correct. They changed their approach with the bundles. Now you give them your account name and they send you the games directly to your account. As such they are no longer tradeable.

I'm guessing the Warner Bros package must be available not on steam then, because people have been giving away copies of individual games from the package on the Ctrl-Alt-Delete forums

Also this link can be found at the bottom of the bundle pages. http://support.humblebundle.com/cust...ing-steam-keys

Guardians of Middle-Earth with "Smaug's Treasure" DLC,
