  • First Peter O'Toole, now...

Joan Fontaine. 96 years old, one of the few remaining people from Hollywood's Golden Era.

She was my favorite Jane Eyre, opposite Orson Welles. And I loved "Rebecca" too.

Bit of trivia: Joan Fontaine was the younger sister of Hollywood star Olivia DeHavilland. They've also not spoken in several decades (falling out years ago over their mother favoring one of them over the other when they were girls, or some such)

Not only was Miss Fontaine estranged from her sister but her adopted daughter as well. I can imagine the family gatherings . . .

But she was a great actress, no doubt. There are fewer and fewer left from Hollywood's Golden Era.
