The Loading Ready Run people were watching it happen while doing one of their livestreams last night. It covered over 200k in the span of an hour.

Just plain awesomely nuts.

This is amazing!!! I LOVED Reading Rainbow as a child - in fact, I still remember the name of my favorite book from that show - "Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch" and found it on Youtube!!

And still going surprisingly strong. Almost 3 million and rising. With the weekend coming up and paydays going by, I suspect we'll see another surge.

Granted I don't normally follow Kickstarters, but I figured it would slow a bit after 2 million, and initially thought 3 million would be where it settles, maybe 5 million on the outside.

Now I'm thinking it'll hit 5 million easily, and 10 million might be an outside stretch goal at this point. (Something I initially dismissed as impossible when a friend suggested)

It's an incredible show; one of the two that helped foster my love of reading that deserves to come back for new generations of children.

(The other show was also on PBS I've long forgotten the name or host of; they would read a few chapters of a book while an artist would literally paint the scene; it was how I found Cooper's "Dark is Rising" books, and the Boxcar Children series)

For some reason, yer making me think of both Commander Mark (drew absurdly complex, often futuristic scenes as a method of teaching drawing techniques to kids) and Bob "happy little trees" Ross ^_^

Don't know Commander Mark; but I do remember Bob Ross and I did watch his show too.

Googled it and I guess it was Cover to Cover.

The Dark is Rising scene stuck with me, since it was the scene where the Dark Rider confronted Wil, and was being held back by the scar of the crossed circle in Wil's forearm. Of course I didn't seek out the book at the time, but grabbed the Sequence from the Scholastic Book club a few years later, and when I reached the scene, everything came back to me.

I just recently included those very same books in a pile I gave to mom to donate to the highschool library.

For sharing on social media? Easiest way around that is to add an extension. Lets see, i use Chrome, so i have two, Post To Tumblr (PTT) because i do a lot of stuff with Tumblr and that works really good. For non-Tumblr and oddball Tumblr issues i use AddThis. With a right click i can share just about anything.

i never actually watched reading rainbow as a kid.

see i started reading full sized books at age 4 (nancy drew books then others) so when i watched tv as a kid, which i really didn't do often until i was like 10, it was stuff like magic school bus or tail spin or even bill nye or sailor moon. since i was already reading books above reading rainbow level or already read them and didnt like side story parts where he went to farms or what have you it never captured my fancy.

but give me a show that could have explosions or violence and i was your girl...

...... my parents raised 3 very violent and dark children....

ROFL. My brother actually credits CM with instilling him a love for drawing, and teaching him many useful techniques. Bro still draws from time to time, but not often, but he has always been quite good at it.
