And the award for most overrated game to get a remake goes to...
Ugh. Let me point this out. FF7 is a decent JRPG but that's as far as I'll give it. It's popularity is that it was the first game in the series to be mass marketed, nothing else. The characters are cardboard, the pacing is like a yo-yo and the mechanics are simply a slightly different approach to what has been twice before in the series. And that doesn't even begin to mention the bugs, glitches and exploits that are rampant in the unfinished title. I honestly doubt that anyone praising it like the second coming of Christ has either a)played any other JRPG or b) has actually played it through recently and seen just how badly it's aged and not just in terms of graphics.
I have no problems with people liking it, but can we PLEASE stop acting like it's the pinnacle that can never be achieved again? Because not only is that not the case, it's been dwarfed several times.I AM the evil bastard!

PC -- Yeah, "exclusive" means almost nothing when it comes to consoles these days, and I don't think they even threw the term around. Bayonetta 2 is one of the notable exceptions, and it was a special case (it only got made because Nintendo stepped in with a cash infusion, otherwise, the project (and maybe the studio??) would have died an ignoble death). I'd say that Steam and XBONE releases are inevitable. Speaking of the XBONE, they've announced that Backwards Compatibility is finally coming for it; presumably entirely via software emulation. They're saying that it will depend on approval from each individual game publisher; I expect it to be about the same level of BC as with the 360 -- 75% at best for disc-based games, 95% or better for downloads (they're already emulated, technically, so they're better work)...and that will likely take a couple of years to reach.
In general - Keep in mind that best guess for this is 2017. If you plan to buy a PS4 for this, wait until then. I'm sure it'll drop by at least $100 by then, if not 150 or better.

It was a big deal at the time because it was one of the first good "3-D view" console games...which, unfortunately, means that it was also a major contributing factor in the deluge of shitty 3-D view games to follow, accounting for many of the bad games during the PSX console generation in general. Put simply, game manufacturers didn't see "Sequel to one of the best-selling franchises of all time that happened to be in 3D," which it was -- They saw "3D game with pretty cutscenes that sold incredibly well," instead. Hell, I would argue that the FF franchise has suffered as a result, as well.
This is something that people have legitimately been begging SE for for a very, very long time, and it WILL sell a bunch of consoles. Personally, I feel that FFIV and FFVI are significantly better games than FFVII. Now they just need to properly update Chrono Trigger...>_>
I HOPE that they put a great deal of effort into fixing the things that were wrong with it, despite knowing that they likely will have at least a million guaranteed sales, no matter what. This is their chance to make up for some of their shadier decisions as of late (such as their overpriced, DLC-infested mobile games). I'm not gonna say that they'll be hurting if they don't do this one right, but it could be the first major nail in Final Fantasy's coffin if they screw this one up, somehow.Last edited by EricKei; 06-16-2015, 03:47 PM."For a musician, the SNES sound engine is like using Crayola Crayons. They really should have done this sooner, I don't get the "let's not make things that will sell" mentality but honestly I've never really played number 7 until recently on steam, I'll finish it some day but I much prefer earlier games in the series.
I want a chrono sequel. I want pc ports of symphony of the night and shadow of the colossus and I want final fantasy 3/6 on my 3dsInterviewer: What is your greatest weakness?

FF7 is my favorite of the "3D era" FF games, but my second favorite overall. (Number one would have to be FF6.)
I'll definitely be getting this, though, no matter what. Heck yeah, been waiting twenty gorram years for this.PWNADE(TM) - Serve up a glass today! | PWNZER - An act of pwnage so awesome, it's like the victim got hit by a tank.

Kingdom hearts 3 footage, as well.
Looks like more of the same with some interesting changes. In other words, exactly what many KH fans want Sora looks a bit older, too."For a musician, the SNES sound engine is like using Crayola Crayons. 7 was my first FF game and I'm most definitely preordering in full as soon as I can, I'm playing the original now. That's something I'd never thought I'd say, but they really needed to do this. A ton of us were waiting for this ever since the PS3 "tech demo", I'm glad to see they've finally stopped screwing around and did this already........./\
