I enjoyed his show growing up, but it irked me that he seemed to put the children on his show down a lot. He seemed rather pretensious, but still very educational.
Then came Bill Nye who turned it around and enjoyed making a food of himself.
We need more shows like these, enjoyable *and* educational.
Awwww, I loved that show when I was little. Even had a "Mr. Wizard" book of experiments. My sister and I were just talking about it the other day, strangely enough. He did a lot for my generation and a lot for later ones - I don't think Bill Nye would have had the success he did if it wasn't for Mr. Wizard paving the way. I only hope that there will continue to be shows like that in the future.

I doubt any of them would have. Bill Nye, Beakman, even the Mythbusters would have fallen flat had the idea of science shows not been around in the past.
