Dan Fogelberg, the man who sang the song "Same Old Lang Syne", has recently passed away which is explained here. The song can be heard here.

At the risk of sounding like Chief Weinerhead, I always thought "Leader of the Band" was a kind of a neat song

An only child alone and wild
A cabinet maker's son

I've always liked Fogelberg's music. I was shocked to hear he'd died, he was still fairly young.

I heard "Same Old Lang Syne" on the radio while working tonight. One of those songs I'd heard before but didn't know the title.

I'd classify it as a lump in the throat song.
