I think i've heard this before in a joke that was told to me by a friend.

I don't think it's real but then again there are a few whack jobs out there who would probably do some thing like that.

Eh. I'm guilty of that during my /thieving/ days. I stoled some candy. Security caught me. Took me back into store. Called my mom. Mom came. Much grounding. Much games taken away.

Little bit later, I got a letter. I was excluded from the proptery. and also had to pay 101 dollars. (100 dolllar fine, plus 1 dollar for the stolen items, even though I didn't get them).
