He's an attention whore. I sincerely doubt he'll stop just because he said he would.
Besides, how many people do you think have hit that thing a dozen times in one go?

I know online petitions are worth the paper they're printed on, and he's too much of an attention whore to ever get out of the spotlight, but I'm trying to be a more positive person. I choose to believe that this can make a difference! We can end the scourge of horrible video game adaptations! We can leave a theatre-future to the next generation free of abominations like Alone in the Dark, The House of the Dead, or Postal. *shudder*
Alas, the petition won't stop him from releasing the next three he has currently in post production, or the three after that are currently in production (including *twitch Bloodrayne 3).

I know, but a slim chance is better than no chance at all.
Only YOU can stop the Wholesale Slaughter of Video Game Movies!
I hate Uwe Boll.
That statement is not enough to express my feelings, but its a start. The man has taken some perfectly viable licenses and made the shittiest movies out of them, and I hate him for it. Then he has to be a dick about it, and claim that he makes high art or something.
It seems that recently a publication has started a petition to get him to retire. Normally, no big deal, but the slayer of innocent celuloid has said, when confronted about it, that he would retire from movie making if one million people signed it. Now, I don't belive him for a second, but I would love to see the video of him being forced to face that fact that so many people really DO think that he's a twittering fucktrumpet. As of my signing, the petition is already up over 178,000 signatories.
Join me in telling him to get out of the director's chair, and stop ruining the chances that decent game-based cinema could be made. Every piss-poor film he makes is one more reason for a studio to not take the chance on a potentially good movie license.

God, I hate him so very, very much.

The Rich keep getting richer because they keep doing what it was that made them rich. Ditto the Poor.

Ah.. now it makes sense... I've only heard the name, but never seen any of his movies... that bad???
Sort of on topic... (well - ok - it is about a movie...), Elric (of Michael Moorcock fame) is being or has been written into a movie - by the directors of Golden Compass (but who won't be directing it...)
When I said "From my research", what I actually meant to say was "Made shit up" - from a thottbot thread
I heard that German movies, (Where Most of Uwe movies are made) only have to pay taxes on movies that make a profit, and get money back if they lose money. Could be a rumor, though it would make alot of sense in context of his crappy movies.

Actually, I heard that too. And it apparently used to be true. But they closed that loophole recently (like maybe a year or two ago at most)

Yeah, the consensus from most people was that they were using him as a tax dodge to sink money. Like the plot from The Producers, or something. But the law was changed within the last couple of years.
It doesn't seem to have stopped him, unfortunately.
