The husband should have been charged and convicted. Didn't matter if the man was her lover or not. He killed somebody. No matter what. He chose to point his shotgun at the guy and fire. End of story.
At the time of the shooting he belived that the lover was raping his wife...
Usually I would come back with "Murder is still Murder" but I do see where he could have been coming from. But he still should have been charged. Maybe not for Murder but certainly for something. Manslaughter?
