Good Trade?

Was wondering what people think about this. Personally I think it kinda sounds like a good trade. Complementing someone while their helping you is a good way to get more help and make things easier. But, I can already see an SC using this as bait to get the problem fixed quicker.

"Well if you won't help me on this than I won't put a good word in with your boss." Type thing.

Using it like a bargaining chip is a real bad way to go, considering that often times, the staff that you're trying to do it to is usually treated like crap anyway, so that isn't going to change anything.

Granted, complimenting good service is a nice reward for the staff and will certainly improve morale even if only temporarily, but smiles and good words do not pay the bills. To treat it like it does speaks of ignorance and stupidity.
