I realize that a lot of what he does is completely self serving, but I have to say that Flynt has probably done more to keep first amendment right s at the top of our collective defensive radar than anyone else over the past twenty years. And in this case he's right - who's to decide what industries are essential for economic health? Let's throw pizza makers and chia pet manufacturers into the mix too.
Am I the only one to think that his tongue was firmly in his cheek?
Not at all Raps - that's why I threw in chia pets and pizza makers. And that's why the point Flyhnt is making is a good one. Would these huge businesses going down the tubes all at once be crippling? Absolutely. But exactly what is the threshold for being a critical industry? Or of being on the "verge of collapse?"

Rapscallion
Nope. I'm sure this industry is doing just fine.
But I see where he is coming from - if they're bailing out companies that can no longer compete or made bad business decisions, what about everyone else?
Raps - your domain is registered with TuCows, which I think is a US company so I think we (and anyone else who fits in this) shoudl lobby Wal Street as domain owners and insist on a bailout.
I think they have a case though. The quality of porn these days is pretty crappy. It seems like the amateur stuff is better than professional stuff. Plus, if the porno industry is does well, that means there are a lot of happier people out there. And more happy people equals...hm, well, I dunno. Peace? Actually, I thought of a whole bunch of other industries that will greatly benefit from the porn industry, but that's getting into too much detail for me to be safe to actually say it.
