  • Child porn charges with a twist

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28679588/

3 girls aged 14 and 15 took nude photos of themselves with camera phones then sent picture messages to 3 male students. the girls are charged with producing child porn, and the boys are charged with possession of it. all 6 will have to register as sex offenders for 10 years.
This is a drama-free zone; violators will be slapped. -Irving Patrick Freleigh

So wait, didn't other Hollywood stars do teen nudes as well? Why aren't they being labeled as child pornographers?

My new phrase for this month seems to be "what the hell?" That's the first thing I said when I saw that.

I'd say something else, but it'd possibly be seen as fratching material more than anything, so I'll be quiet.
It's nothing bad though, just utter shock that they'd be forced to register when they're all kids -- especially when the artical said "a survey of 1,280 teens and young adults found that 20 percent of the teens said they had sent or posted nude or semi nude photos or videos of themselves"

        Thats ridiculous.

Everyone involved is a minor. And the girls sent the texts willingly. I dont understand life sometimes.

Probably has to do with the way that the law is worded. Sometimes, you get weird unintended consequences.

I didn't know "child porn" went that young - I think there is an age gap somewhere (mid teens?) to 18 where it is still illegal but not labeled as "child porn" (could be indecency to a minor or something like that?).

Some states the "child porn" law is for children under the age of 10-14.

But - girls that young shouldn't be doing that. I think nude puctures are legal if they "don't show anything", though (lots of skin but no "naughty parts").

They probably labeled it "art" or something similar *shrug*

I think this one could turn into a debate rather easily. I'm going to close it. If anyone wants to start a thread at Fratching on the subject, feel free.

                Thanks.

If you have to ask, it's probably better posted at www.fratching.com
