I just applied for my last Friday

That's the checklist I used. There's other checklists but I found that the most convenient.
I will warn you ahead of time though, so no one goes through what I did. If you don't have your SSN card, you can apply for a new card at your local state office... they will tell you their receipt is valid for the enhanced license. The DMV will tell you the same thing when you call.
But in person ... no they won't accept it.
The checklist says it's mandatory... but if you don't have it, your copy of your W2 will be sufficient.
What I used for mine:
NY driver's license
W2 (in place of ssn card)
Utility bill (car insurance)
Mail addressed to me (postmark was about a week old)
Bank statement from last month
I also had my lease but I don't think they used it. Anyway there's a lot of things you can use...
you just CAN'T use a receipt for a social security card in place of the card
even though the dmv says you can over the phone. yes i was annoyed.
