    Jan Rubes (Nick Ballard on SG1) is dead.

    At the rightful age of 89. Those of us Sci Fi buffs remember him best as Daniel Jackson's grandpa, Nick Ballard, on Stargate SG-1 in the episode "Crystal Skull". RIP Jan!

    Wow. I have to agree with the article, he was one of the most memorable short-term characters on the show.
