In case you ever wondered about my Net handle, it seems she’s one of the most badass female spaceship pilots of all time.
Spoilers for Revelation Space
Of course, I picked my handle before I finished the Revelation Space trilogy. In the last book, Ana Khouri becomes a mommy and turns totally and completely lame.
But for the first couple books she’s kickass, even if she’s not technically the pilot of the Nostalgia for Infinity; that title belongs sort-of jointly to Ilya Volyova (also kickass) and the ship itself, which is melded with the brain of its crazy former captain.
I would tell you to just go read the books, but in good conscience I really can’t because the last one sucks so bad.
If you don’t want to read the whole list (but you might, since there’s pictures of hot chicks on it), here’s their woefull short justification for including Ana:
Ana Khouri in Revelation Space by Alastair Reynolds.
This assassin joins the crew of the Nostalgia For Infinity, intent on killing one of the crewmembers, but then two different digital entities fight over control of her, and thus of the ship. Also a killer pilot is the ship’s de facto captain, Illia Volyova.
