    That they do . . . *sniff*

    I still have the following:

    Typewriter (and it still works.)
    analog tv's
    VCR and VHS tapes
    vinyl albums
    cassette tapes
    a portable cassette player
    a turntable
an analog receiver (actually, I have 3 or 4 out in the building)
answering machine that uses cassettes (packed away somewhere in Mom's room . . . meaning it may not turn up for the next decade)
Nintendo game console (the ORIGINAL version)
Game Boy (packed out in the building somewhere. I think it still works.)

And let me tell you about tv before cable . . . we had 3 channels here in NC and if the President was on, your night was screwed. As in OMGTHEPRESIDENTSONWE'REGONNAMISSFLIPPER (and no, Jeff Foxworthy was not joking about that, either.)

(Actually, in the 70's at my house it was more like CRAPTHEPRESIDENTSONIWONTGETWONDERWOMANARRRRRRRGHHH HHHH.)

I think the article left out rotary dial telephones, BTW.

      No, it's #63

And I still get lost...I have no sense of direction (thanks, mom!) and my phone does not have GPS, nor do I have one in my car.

        Damn I feel old now.

I've still got a betamax vcr and tapes, and the damn thing still works well and has picture quality equal to the day the tape was recorded. It's actually older than I am.

I feel old as well, even though I'm not!

An elderly lady came in to return some unopened DVDs, saying she forgot she needed VHSs and where can she get those movies in VHS? My reply: "Sorry, we don't carry VHS format at all anymore" and when she was a bit disappointed I added in "I understand, as I still have a VCR and VHS tapes as well!" She felt a little less bad about it but she was cute and sweet, kind of shocked that VHS is out of date now.

It just made me stumble a little when I put myself, which I'm not even 30 yet, in the same boat as her! Hehe!

            Wow.....I'm feeling old now...

Inserting a VHS tape into a VCR to watch a movie or to record something.
            MiniDisc.
            Laserdisc: the LP of DVD.
Scanning the radio dial and hearing static between stations. (Digital tuners + HD radio bork this concept.)
Watching TV when the networks say you should. Tivo and Sky+ are slowing killing this one.
That there was a time before ‘reality TV.’
The scream of a modem connecting.
The buzz of a dot-matrix printer
5- and 3-inch floppies, Zip Discs and countless other forms of data storage
Blowing the dust out of a NES cartridge in the hopes that it’ll load this time.
Turning a PlayStation on its end to try and get a game to load.
Having to delete something to make room on your hard drive.
Doing bank business only when the bank is open.
Shopping only during the day, Monday to Saturday.
            Phone books and Yellow Pages.
Newspapers and magazines made from dead trees
The fact that words generally don’t have num8er5 in them.
Waiting several minutes (or even hours!) to download something.
When Spam was just a meat product — or even a Monty Python sketch.
Putting film in your camera: 35mm may have some life still, but what about APS or disk?
Sending that film away to be processed.
Having physical prints of photographs come back to you.
            Rotary-dial telephones.
            Answering machines.
Vacuum cleaners with bags in them.
            Fax machines
            Pay phones.
Taking turns picking a radio station, or selecting a tape, for everyone to listen to during a long drive
            Remembering someone’s phone number.
Not knowing who was calling you on the phone.
            Neat handwriting
            Writing a check.
            Cash.
Libraries as a place to get books rather than a place to use the internet.
A physical dictionary — either for spelling or definitions.
When a ‘geek’ and a ‘nerd’ were one and the same.

It's enough for me to know that kids I used to teach during a summer school program now have kids going to college.

A couple of those things are before my times, but I at least knew about them. But I do remember a lot of them. So yeah I feel old. Though I've been feeling old ever since shows like The Nanny, and Home Improvement starting showing on Nick at Nite.
