I came across this (it's the video to "We Built This City" by Jefferson Starship.

What gets me as being really of comes around 1:40. Who is that? That's Grace Slick. One of the front liners (as part of Jefferson Airplane), as seen in this video:

(Grace is the lead singer in these songs - White Rabbit and Somebody To Love).

The fascinating part is that the two are close to what, 20 years apart, and she still has a killer voice.

But - it's interesting to see how well the band "stayed with the times". You see them in the 60's - anti-war, free love, and the general hippie standpoint and then close to disappear for many years (I'm sure they still toured) and then completely morphed into an 80's big hair band but still singing about the same thing, kinda, gone from anti-government to anti-corporations.

I find the look change the oddest, though.

    Thoughts?

I think they did what they had to do to survive as a band. Music and style in the 80's was radically different from the 60's, and they risked being forgotten if they didn't adapt. Airplane was popular but not Beatles or Stones popular.

I like Airplane better than Starship, but Starship had a couple killer hits. I'd never seen that video before, love the singing Lincoln.
