Non-military man charged with being AWOL

Apparently 10 years ago he was going to join the army but changed his mind before going (which is quite legal).

But the army never took him off their records and marked him as a deserter.

so he got arrested and sent to a deserter-prison while they figured out that he was a civilian.

He estimates he lost about $1500 of salary while in jail

Hopefully they did something to rectify the loss of wages and such for that man. That was one huge ass mistake they made.
