  • Athena doing "escape" bites

This is Athena (one of Kiri's puppies from last year renamed "Pepper" since she is spicy) doing her first round of "escape" bites - where the helper runs away and she needs to bite the sleeve.

Normally dogs aren't this far until they are at 1 1/2 to 2 years of age - Athena isn't even a year old yet (she's what, 10 months?).

Plus notice while she's biting - her ears are forward, not backwards. When the ears are back it's usually due to lack of confidence or insecurity. Many newer dogs - even well trained veterans have their ears back when they bite. Her's are completely forward - she's serious and very confident with it.

Hey, pretty good. Lots of barking, too, which is probably a good thing when in that kind of situation.

Barking is always a great deterrent with protection - it is the negative side of some malinois lines who **LOVE** to ambush.

          Yes.

The person who adopted Artemis renamed her Katie. She's not a "Katie".

The person who adopted Athena renamed her Pepper and she fits the name, she's spicy.
