I don't offend easily ...in fact it takes a LOT. But this did it......I just read a news story about their upcoming exhibition in switzerland and all I can say is to infinity....

Heh sadly the only thing I'm offended by is the fact they never come anywhere close to me. I'm fascinated by the whole thing.

They do exhibits with dead bodies preserved by a method called plastination....and the exhibit coming up in Switzerland involves these bodies showing sex, through various positions I guess.

        Gah.

Yeah I just heard about the OMSI event from a co worker....I never even knew these people existed before.

I'm sorry I just have a thing about cadavers....as far as I'm concerned they need to be buried out of my sight and away from me

          Ahhh gottchas!

As a side note I did find a few of the sex photos (wiki page, go to foot note 32, all in German). To me they are creative but I can see how they'd be offensive to many people.

Hmmm, something of a Kama Sutra road show?

If the folks were alive that'd be one thing....but the positioning of cadavers ... storing them, taking them from place to place and displaying them....I just don't even have words for that. It's not necrophilia, cause at least one party is alive. Don't know what to call it LOL.

Ok yeah. Didn't see the sex one. That would be offensive. Even to me, and I'm pretty lenit in alot of things.

This might not be the most PC thing I've ever said, but just because you've got a hang-up over dead bodies doesn't make this thing bad. Really, this is just bio class dissections, but done to humans. It's educational. It's meant to show people how the human body moves and works in various ways. We had the Body Works show here for a while, though I never managed to go see it (I'm lazy that way). It's a wonderful educational experience though, and every person I know who went to see it raved about how well it was done. And the positioning of the subjects in to sex poses isn't any worse. It's still just education. It's not even disrespecting the dead, since you need to actually sign your body over to the project specifically. That's right, the bodies on display were bequeathed to the show.

Sorry, but ya got some issues I think you need to get over, if you're wigging over this.

Yeah me too! Almost nothing offends me......I say live and let live....ya know? But THIS just about killed me. And in the story I read they were worried about whether they should show homosexuality....are you KIDDING me? That should be the least of their worries.

OH Yeah I know they were bequeathed to the show, and no one is there without consent and what not.

But really why can't they just make a nice plastic model/doll/mannequin type thing instead.....

I see your point but I guess my theory is, if you find it offensive or distasteful, don't go see it.

I don't blame you...I probably wouldn't go either. I find it to be an interesting idea but seeing it in person might be a bit much for me...(and imagine if you went and actually knew one of the people ? I don't know if you can see faces, or not...)
