  • My own webserver!!!

    Well soon. Kinda. I'll need a router for it to keep both the lappy & the server on at the same time.

    But anyway yeah, my own web server.

    that's what I'm installing on my xp desktop


    it'll take a little work with the setup, but hey it beats paying a monthly fee for web-hosting.

    Who is your ISP? (And what speeds)

    What port are you using for the outbound?

    Is it reliable enough to handle traffic?

      Further, does your ISP allow you to host your own server on a residential connection? I know mine, it's a violation of the ToS, and they may notice a jump in uploads, since most residential net traffic is down, but servers are more two-way.

        well it's not actually online yet

        and i dunno. i do know that my own website draws virtually no traffic where it's hosted now so it wouldn't really do much for my bandwidth


        tho it's prolly against the tos

          Ir ptobabaly would have been cheaper to get a few year's hosting with a cheap service like Hostmonster.com .

            im cheap. i turned off my yahoo web hosting back in september
            tho i seem to stil have access to it...

            but i saved the page already to my hdd

            o well i'll thing of something fun to do with the desktop
