  • Correct me if I'm wrong

    But this http://en.dawanda.com/product/498242...-Pleated-Skirt isn't tartan.

I was looking for skirts to get an opinion if the skirt I want to make myself is stupid or not. And it irks me that these people can't describe a houndstooth skirt as such.

    1. I freaking love that skirt.

    2. I love houndstooth.

    3. Not a big fan of tartan.

    4. You are not wrong.

I love when I see modern clothing sold as "Renaissance" or "Medieval." Or worse, "gypsy." And when I say "love" I mean "despise, get pissed by, and start badmouthing and mocking".

Other than some similarity to a "woman's kilt" there's nothing tartan about it

That's the same pattern that was on the carpet in my kitchen (yes, kitchen) when I was a kid. It looks better on a skirt but I still hate it.

to me no that's not tartan.

unless it's an actual family pattern it's just plaid. or some ugly twisted boxes (as in this case)

tho to me that pattern is an eyesore. it reminds me of a black & white coat i saw an old lady wearing at church. think it was the same pattern... so now i associate it with old ladies and wool coats

                      Huh.

                      Didn't know that.

I suppose a case could be made that it's maybe a type of tartan, then.

I'll also give it credit for being a woven-in, evenweave pattern rather than a printed one. But if I want a tartan skirt, that's not the least bit what I'm looking for. (Speaking of which, can anyone recommend where I can find a pattern for a long full skirt? I think that the pattern in the 1970's "Encyclopedia of Crafts" is about what I want, but I got rid of my copy of those books).

Are you suggesting that we might start to see pink tartans (like pink camo)??

I guess it has more ring to it than "Ghastly Fucking Clown Suits."

Geeze. That site was bad. And the clothes on it were bad.
