  • An epic episode of SC nerve and stupidity (with animal abuse!)

    http://consumerist.com/2011/02/woman...ive-puppy.html

    Summary

Woman tried to send a puppy through USPS to an 11 year old. She had the puppy in a standard shipping box with no food or water. The postal workers thought something was up when the box started making noise and moving on its own so they got permission to open it and rescue the dog.

The woman has now been charged with animal cruelty, but here's the kicker: After being contact about this, she went back to the post office and asked for a refund of the $22 she'd paid to ship the dog.

How could anyone be THAT stupid?

I'm sorry, I know we don't condone violence around here, but that woman needs a liberal application of a clue-by-four!

What in the WORLD could she have been thinking? Taped over the air holes, even? Arrrrggghh! There are no words, how did she even manage to raise children to adulthood?

That's pretty sick. I hope to goodness that woman has mental issues and is not just that naturally twisted.

Unfortunately some people think of animals as just animals. They don't think they have feelings or do things like get hot in postal boxes. My brother is like this. When the kids puppy died he just let it rot on the porch, instead of burying it and letting the kids mourn in a healthy way. And they wonder why I haven't visited my brother in years. I hope they charged her with animal torture too. Fucking bitch

I saw a video about this where a postal employee said the woman had told them that there was a toy robot in the box, so it might make some noise. So the moron knew that shipping live animals was wrong and she tried to hide her actions.

Update, she wants the puppy back!

That poor puppy. Frankly, I'm surprised that 4Chan hasn't gone after this woman yet.

Part of me hopes she appeals and loses, just so she has to keep paying for the city to take care of the dog until the case is done. On the other hand, the longer she drags it out, the longer the poor dog stays in a kennel and doesn't have a chance to get adopted.

That dog would've died for sure if it just got tossed in the hold of that plane.

After watching Animal Cops (doesn't matter what city), the dogs are taken out played with and the dog could even be a foster dog with someone whom knows they can leave. (I have seen older foster dogs. Some got adopted by the people fostering them.)

Good point. My friend has fostered beagles, and they adopted one of their fosters (they now have 2 dogs, but I think they adopted the first before they started fostering). They don't do it anymore because with 2 dogs and 3-and 6-year-old boys it's just too crazy in their house.

I'd say an eye for an eye here.

Stuff her in a tight, well-sealed box with no air holes and ship her somewhere. Maybe to Centralia, Pennsylvania.

There are many ways to ship an animal, this, by far, is not one of them. You need an appropriate crate, water, a roll (or two) of paper towels, and you ship it cargo with an airline (bonus if you look for ones that have special animal compartments).

I'm glad that the employees stepped up and took action, good for them. This was a true rescue. Excellent job for them, if this was a post office near me or in my territory I would go there and buy a bunch of stamps just to thank them.

The postal office is in the Minneapolis area - hopefully someone can find out exactly which one it is and our CS forumites can go there and do their business there if it is feasible.

I am pretty sure the courts will deny her appeal - unless he claims insanity. Hopefully she'll never be allowed to purchase an animal again.

Just imagine what her nephew would have gone though if he had received it (I put the chances at 99% the puppy would not have survived).

Edit: [quote]"We asked her, don't you want to know about your puppy? But she said no. She just wanted her money back," Ojoyeyi said. [/quote[

Is there anything going on in that woman's head at all?

She whinges that due to the postal clerks intercepting the posting, she was 'deprived of her son receiving his birthday present' !

He would have received it dead!!! Why can't she see that?
