  • Got problems? Blame Californians???

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17791351/from/RS.4/

----I've never been there and have not really met enough Californians to paint a picture of them. But I think this piece parallels the image of Americans that I think is portrayed globally (Got problems? Blame Americans).

Well, that is fantastic. I now have no intention of moving out of state if this is what I'm to be subjected to. It is that whole thing of stereotypes. Some people fit stereotypes, but it is always ludicrous to decide that all people are. As I always say about stereotypes. Until I've met every person in that category, I have no right to say all people fit such stereotype. But I guess when a stereotype is the supposed root of the problem, it no longer matters. Disappointing.

Well, I'm disappointed on the behalf of us sane Californians. The rest? I know the kind the article is talking about and I'm only too happy to let them go away from out state. I can see the beach better that way.

I was born in CA and now live in DC. I guess Bush is going to blame *me* for everything, right?

I was born in CA but raised in SD - does that make me a 'damn Califorinian'?
Figers are vicious I tell ya. They crawl up your leg and steal your belly button lint.

        I'm a case study.

All I have to say to the haters is-

As far as I'm concerned, California could just drift right out into the ocean and become it's own little island and I'd be a happy camper. Barak Obama could come over and be the President of California, and Moby could come hang with us sometimes if he wanted to.

We'll keep San Francisco, Yosemite, Disneyland, the San Diego Zoo, Monterey, Napa, and all the other cool stuff to ourselves, and everyone else can just eat it. It'll be swell to go on a holiday without so many damn tourists buzzing around.

Hate to say it, but alot of people agree with what the article is saying. Draconian Gun laws, Homeowners associations, Smoking bans and the junk science associated with them, The Watermelon religion (Environmental socialism, green on the outside, red on the inside), illegal immigration, etc.

Not saying everyone there is bad, just that alot of bad stuff comes from Cali. I'll save the debate for a different forum.

I'm an ex-Californian living in Wisconsin, and I either get, "You're from California? What did you move here for??" or I get the eyeroll. Some people here think Cali is a paradise, like Florida. [Why they think FL is so great, I'll never know, but that's another thread....] Others don't want an alien from planet California here. Either way, I'm not really accepted. They don't get my sense of humor and I am not narrow-minded enough to fit in. I'm not slandering Wisconsinites here. I've met a lot of great people. But it is a different culture and I don't fit in, not even after 4, almost 5 years. But would I go back to SoCal? I do miss the sun and my mom, but other than that, there's no reason for me to go there. Maybe northern California. I'm not sure I want to stay here, either.

WHAT THE HELL? Yeah California is crap, but still, do not place the blame on everyone in California.
