Baxter finally decided to curl up in his usual spot atop the couch. He'd been avoiding that spot, mostly because Sally slept roughly where the white blanket is. She's been gone just over a month, and he's not sure what to think. When I first brought him home, 9 years ago, he seemed to have some sort of separation anxiety. He wasn't thrilled when I'd leave for work in the morning, but because she was here, he didn't seem so lonely. Now, when i get home, he spends hours meowing his head off and following me around. Ideally, I'd like to get another cat, so he'll have someone to cuddle and play with. But, because he's very much still a kitten (a nearly 11-year-old one at that!), finding another cat that will tolerate high energy, not to mention getting along with other cats...is difficult. Most of the shelter cats aren't listed as getting along with others. I'm very reluctant to bring someone home...if they won't get along.

It's presently kitten season, at least in my part of the world. Kittens tend to be very adaptable, so consider one of those if you can't find an adult cat that plays well with others.“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.
One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." -- John Rogers
