Any restaurants in particular you can think of?
I prefer the buffets. The one at the Orleans is my personal favorite, and a favorite of the locals, which should tell you something (good food and lots of it, reasonably priced). It is off the strip on Tropicana, but they run a shuttle to the strip every 15 minutes or so.

On the strip, my favorite would be Excalibur's , which is pricey but well worth it.

The fancier restaurants in the casinos are well out of my league, and probably too expensive for what you get. Most of the casinos also have fast-food places like McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and so forth if you need a quick bite to tide you over.

As far as restaurants are concerned, here is my list of favorites...

Italian: Battista's Family Restaurant, corner of Flamingo and Audrie, across from Bally's. Caters to both Northern and Southern style cooking.

Mexican: Canonita Taqueria, inside the Canal Shoppes at the Venetian. It's Mexico City style cooking, so it may be different from what you expect. (i.e. Black beans instead of Pinto beans)

Buffet: Rio, Orleans, or Mirage. All three are great. A little pricey, but great. ($15-20 per person, I believe)

Chinese: The cafe at the Orleans has some of the best Chinese food in town. Good food without paying out the arse. The only other place I'll go, outside of fast food style, would be P.F. Chang's. They've got several across the valley. There's one inside the Planet Hollywood hotel.

BBQ: Lucillle's BBQ, it's off the strip at the shops outside the Green Valley Ranch Casino. It's about 10-20 minutes from the strip, but the food is worth the drive in my opinion.

Steak House: I forget the name of it, but there is a Brasilian Steak House inside the Mirage. GREAT food and they've got it buffet/all you can eat style too. There is also the Savannah Chop House inside the Tropicana.

      Gawd I'm getting hungry now.

I actually like just walking around the strip in the early evening. It's great for people watching.
Ah, the Strip is great. I had my first encounter with a drug dealer there, and that was only a couple months ago. *le sigh*

        ...he was very polite.

A bunch of friends were in town for my little sister's 30th birthday last year. One of them was mugged outside the Silverton when he went out for a morning Jog. it's sad, but no different than any other city in that these aspects.

Just don't go out alone and don't carry $400.00 in your wallet like my jack ass of a friend did.
