  • Moderating forums...

I'm a moderator on a different forum where a large part of the community is the buying, selling, and trading of certain goods and services.

So, you can imagine that there is some fraud that goes on in this forum but luckily we have some members who are experienced at the industry enough to notice something shady and be able to get it exposed quickly.

So, my question is - why is it these scammers are the first ones to post false accusations, lies, and insults while very quickly hitting the report post button at legitimate statements calling them false accusations, lies, and insults?

Do they think the management is that stupid?

Maybe they just think they're more clever.

If all people were honest or decent, there would be no moderators.

Sleight of hand distraction hoping you'll be too busy looking into their made-up false accusations to see what they are doing.

It's simple, really. If you make enough people look like crooks, raise enough suspicions in the forum, the hope on their part is that the actual deceptions and scame (i.e, theirs) will be harder to notice.

More often than you'd like to think, they are correct.
