  • iPods - most ridiculous 'genre' allocation

As I've posted elsewhere, I've got myself a new iPod (not having had one before), and am having masses of fun (not!) in trying to sort it out...

But, one of the most amusing things I noticed was that it put a Black Sabbath song as 'pop'. HA!

So - challenge... do you have a better (ie, more ridiculous) mis-genre-ing story???

Gotan Project, Inspiracion Espiracion, =/= Electronica Dance

Close Encounters of the Third Kind, City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra

    &

    Star Wars, Main Theme

Neither of the two above are Electronica/Dance

La Revancha Del Tango, Gotan Project =/= Electronica Dance

Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Concert Program =/= Electronica Dance

    I'm getting bored now!
A PSA, if I may, as well as another.

OH, I just scrolled and got flabbergasted...

Under 'blues', I've got: Evanscence, Helloween, Iced Earth, Therion, Iron Maiden (actually Brucey solo), and Jean Michel Jarre....

Blind Guardian and Led Zeppelin are apparently 'Classical'!

And Beethoven is Euro-Techno... I'm sure he'd think so... hahahahaha

(Black Sabbath's 'Heaven and Hell' is also a 'rap' album )

        O_o

This is why I re-categorize almost everything I get my paws on. Also, I think they get their info from Gracenote (when you put in a CD), but yeah, things are still really weird.

What's as much fun in the lookups is when they miss the titles.

My cousin's daughter's (Becky Beistline) CD (Proof) has a track 'Toy Box' ... which came up as 'Toy Boy'

WMP is even weirder. My computer has:

                  Ghost in the Shell--blues
                  Glenn Danzig (Black Aria)--pop
Myst/Riven/Exile/Uru/Myst V--alternative...the previous version did classify them mostly-correctly as 'ambient'
                  Deadliest Catch--blues
                  Skies of Arcadia/Grandia 2--dance
Hell Girl--varies, depending on which album
                  Genesis--alternative
                  Ghostbusters Score--alternative

A few track titles on a number of my albums are missed--for some reason I'm not able to correct them (I do, then it seems to revert)

Nitin Sawhney - London Underground is apparently Unclassifiable, not miscellaneous, nor other, but incredibly cannot be classified!

                    Idiots.

Blues Brothers is not trance/house music <_<

Whatever happened to letting a user catalog their own collection?

thankfully my creative zen and creative software has so far not misclassified any of the 2000 songs I've purchased.
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes
