Twitter is popular because the TV says it should be, as far as I've noticed. -.-

For a lot of people on there, sure. But there's a lot more to it than that. I've been on there for two years, and it's really opened some doors and created some friendships for me.

The best one so far? Getting to meet NASA scientists (and the Mars Rover drivers!!!) at the JPL Tweetup. Never would've happened without Twitter.

That said, no-one should feel any pressure to be on Twitter. It's like any other networking/social media thing--if you don't enjoy it, don't bother!

What I like about twitter is that it limits people to 140 characters.

Which is good for two reasons.
1) You don't have to read piles of endless blathering just to know your friend has gotten a new pair of jeans. (Blogs/Vlogs)
2) you are forced to be creative in your wording. Which can be so amusing
