I am sitting at my desk this morning, trying desperately to stay awake. Why am I so sleepy, you ask?
Because I got up at 5:10 am. Because the LRO and LCROSS probes were going to be doing a lunar flyby and entering lunar orbit, and NASA, being all cool like they are, was going to be streaming video of it online. So at 5:20 am, I was awake-ish, sitting in front of my computer, watching a grainy video of the moon as the probes entered lunar orbit.
I also got to watch online when the rocket with those two probes launched. And get up-to-date updates about those missions (and most of the other NASA missions) on Twitter. I have 3D glasses in my purse so that when the latest analglyphs come in from Mars, I can view them online right away.
I really REALLY love the modern world. It's unbelievably cool.
