I once got into a lengthy argument with someone, because I said that if I ever had the chance to go to Paris, I would not spend the time or money to go up in the Eiffel Tower. "How could you not? That's like the most important thing there!!"

Um, no. There is a long, long, long list of "Things I Need to See in Paris" that includes the Louvre, the Comedie-Francaise, the Odeon, le Cite Chaptal (the alley where the Theatre du Grand-Guignol used to be)...not to mention Versailles, Notre Dame, a casual stroll around Montmartre, le Boulevard du Crime... So yes, everyone has their own reasons for travel.
