      Oh, Sugar, you still have mint. I don't care if you clear cut it, burned it, then paved it over with hot asphalt and painted a smiley face on the blacktop.

      It's still there. Trust me on that. You probably only pissed it off.

      As for weeds, I don't think I ever even use the term. Being a naturalist, I only see plants. I see plants I might have to remove, much to my sorrow, but I don't see "weeds" when I look at a clump of vegetation.

      If it's growing where I don't want it, or making a nuisance of itself (I'.m looking at you, japanese wisteria and wild blackberry) I'll eradicate it. But I rarely do so without at least a twinge of regret.
