From what I gather from my sister, guys shaving their chests and stomachs and junk is becoming the norm or has already become the norm. This is news to me. I mean, for the junk, I could understand that. But chests? That sounds so...unmanly to me. Girls actually like that?

Depends on your tastes, I suppose. I mean, I don't want someone with a chest hairier than my head, but at the same time, it kinda startles me the number of guys who shave their junk/wax their chest. Or maybe it's just me... I don't mind some hair, as long as the guy has good hygeine/is well groomed regardless...

I don't like really hairy guys but I think none would kinda weird me out. I used to date a guy who did some "manscaping" down below but he didn't go overboard.I don't go in for ancient wisdom

The only thing I shave is my face, and it'll stay like that forever
Though I'm not overly hairy on my chest or arms, only slightly, but I am on my legs, so much so that if i ever got duct tape stuck to my leg, I'd rather amputate that than pull the tape offI am the nocturnal echo-locating flying mammal man.

You only wanted women (and I'm a man), but I thought I'd add this:
Generally, the shaving/etc of somethings down below is meant so the woman doesn't end up flossing while going down on the guy. Actually one reason it's said why some women trim/shave in the area as well.
For chest/back it's for different reasons varying from wanting to show off muscles (chest) or having patches of hair in patterns (back) so none looks and just feels better. Of course there are some men who have hairs that grow from 4-6" on their chest! So trimming is almost required -- unless they want hair sticking out through their shirt!
note: There's probably a lot more men who trim than not -- including underarms (decreases smell).

What's the big deal, swimmers have been doing it for years. Quite honestly body hair doesn't serve much purpose, the only reason I have beard sometimes is because I hate shaving. So what if I decide to be cooler in summer and make it easier to be clean.
Do you honestly like a really hairy chest? do you think you'd enjoy having a hairy chest?Interviewer: What is your greatest weakness?
Me: I expect competence from my coworkers.

I think a guy with a clean shaven or waxed chest would be a little weird. On the flip side, a guy with a really hair chest would be weird too. My husband's chest is not very hairy so he doesn't do anything with it and I like it that way. Now, his nether regions...that's another story. He does keep that part nicely trimmed, for my benefit and I like it that way. I've had him both ways and it's much better when it's trimmed. He's never clean shaven that area, though, and I don't think I'd like that either.

History of shaving the crotch region summed up in porn:
Certain Asian countries banned the exposing of pubic hair. It was legal to show nether bits, just not pubes. So Asian porn stars started shaving their money makers and American porn stars were like "oooo!! That looks nice!" and started doing it too. Then guys watching porn told their women to shave their cat and the girls were like only if you do it too!! Thus a trend was born.
Personally, I like trimmed nether regions. If a guy shaves it to the skin, usually they grow stubble after a few days and that stuff is painful!! As for chest/back hair, I wouldn't like it for my guy to shave that, then he'd get prickly. I'm not a fan of back hair, but it's not something that would affect my decision to date a guy. Besides, guys are supposed to be furry."I'm working for popcorn - what I get paid doesn't rise to the level of peanuts." -Courtesy of Darkwish

I think 'manscaping' is a nice way to go, especially on the chest. Trimmed, but not waxed. As far as 'down there'...let me put it this way. If you want me to put it in my mouth, there shouldn't be any hair on it. Mkay? I tend to go with a very close trim myself, until I find out someone's preferences. If I guy really really likes totally shaved, okay, I'm cool with that. Whichever."Even arms dealers need groceries." ~ Ziva David, NCIS

I've seen guys with hairy (think doormat fuzzy) chests; hair ranging from 0 - Bear above the waist, and 0- Bear below the waist.
Hair stuff is really going to depend on the woman you see nowadays. I'm 30something, and I personally LIKE hairy chests (but prefer trimmed junk). I also have noticed that males are going for non hairy bodies. To me, that's not embracing yourself and accepting yourself as you are.
Then again, if you never have to worry about cold asscheeks, that might be something worth investigating.

The culture is changing right now, it's becoming more acceptable for men to engage in modern beautification rituals, just as women have done for most of the twentieth century. of course it takes time for a cultural norm to change completely, so it's not completely the norm yet, to the point where men who don't do it are considered weird.
But yeah, it is becoming more and more common for men to get manicures, pedicures, nose jobs, waxes, facials, the works. Shaving parts of the body smooth, like women do, is part of that.
Do what you feel comfortable with.Because as we all know, on the Internet all men are men, all women are men and all children are FBI agents.
