why were they referring her to an ENT? ear nose throat??
Yes, ENT is Ear, Nose, & Throat. If her inner ear got messed up somehow, it would really jack up her ability to balance.

that hospital thought she might have an inner ear infection or Minyurs (sp?) disease...
My mom has Ménière's (thank you, Google), and it is a nasty sort of problem. When I was younger, she would get dizzy spells so bad that she'd be on the ground trying not to fall off. I do remember my dad calling an ambulance for one such occasion.

I had no choice but to go along with Secundus, as she had a car at the hospital and I did not.
Honestly, it's for the best. This isn't your or your roomie's responsibility. I hope they're able to figure out what's wrong with her.

        Update of Glory-tude!
5 Hours! 5 Hours they kept her at that hospital. It was 11 PM, and I had to go pick her up, but she was definitely standing upright with no wobbling. They gave her a shot of phenergen, and, apparently, 5 minutes later, she was fine on her own.

The doctor told her: "The other hospitals were so busy looking at the obvious, that they ignored the not so obvious."

Primus told me on the way home, "I found my very own Dr. House."

        At least it wasn't lupus.

They treated her for motion sickness, and she's good to go back to work tomorrow. And, thanks to WalMart, her script was only $4. So, she could get it this morning, no problem.

That's great to hear she's doing better! So it was just motion sickness? I skimmed the Wiki article on the shot they gave her and saw that listed there as one of the things the drug can treat. Do they know how/why it continued for so long without her getting any better? I wouldn't think motion sickness would have this kind of effect on a person for this long without something else behind it, but I've also never had motion sickness before.

She also has a viral infection to ride out over the next week or so...

              A virus infection.
That wasn't mentioned in the OP...but I'm glad it's getting ironed out.

              Phew.

              What a mess!

She's always said that, if you didn't report it immediately, she was denying the claim...
Of course, someone with a head injury isn't going to be "running on all 8" mentally, so they're likely to not take care of paperwork for a non-routine situation (i.e. getting injured at work) as their first priority, and the company might have tried to discourage them to keep it "off the record" so their WC premiums don't go up.

If the claim gets denied due to lack of immediate report, in circumstances where it is to be expected that the report wouldn't be immediate, I guess that means Worker's Comp doesn't cover head injuries?

Your roommate should see another neurological specialist, even if the vertigo is getting better. It's entirely possible that her original fall at work was due to her problem and not the cause of it, which would explain the confusion at the hospital; they'd be looking for signs of concussion, which she would not have. The memory loss and numbness are very troubling though, and point to other potential neurological problems. The Phenergan may be masking some of the symptoms.

While I believe she has an appointment with the ENT specialist later in the week... I'm pretty sure she doesn't have the money for the visit...
