  • Spud goes to the Renaissance Festival (Image heavy)

So, it's Renaissance Festival time in great old Minnesota. And since dogs are allowed, of course we wanted to bring Spud and Callie. And so we did today. Right now they're both passed out in my office, recovering from their big day. It's so nice seeing Spud tired for once.

We started out watching a juggling/knife throwing while on fire show, which Spud wasn't too keen on. They tried to set the pups on fire! (Part of their act, was hilarious, I wish I caught it on tape)

But then the fun stuff started!

Even though they weren't allowed into the petting zoo:

    "No dogs please"

They still did manage to see their first sheep!

Then, we went to our favorite sword shop

    "Badger Blades"

and got Spud his very first weapon:

Yes, it's a spoon hanging off his backpack. You think we'd actually trust him with a blade? It was a joke to the swordsmith's boss, who's getting a receipt saying that they sold "Spoon - all steel. $12.83" They brought it down the the leather worker who makes sheaths for them wrapped up in a cloak like it was a real sword. The leather worker was about to actually make a sheath for it, haha.

    We met a fairy:

Spud tried to pick up this lady, but she turned him down:

We had to pull 11, yes 11 turkey pieces/bones out of Callie's mouth because of this place:

Spud got serenaded by a harp player:

Then he tried to whisper sweet nothings to this pretty Rottie.

He seriously was a little lady's man today.

What was Callie doing this whole time, other then trying to choke herself?

Living it up with pettings from kids!

We passed by the Hookah Bar:

Spud wanted to go in, but I think he's under age.

And then....Spud and Callie saw Elephants!

(Kevin's dad insisted on holding his leash, but didn't realize how much work he was to hold...)

    Saw the weirdest dog ever:

Callie thought the Borzoi was very pretty:

Then Spud saw a(nother) lady of his own:

Then, Spud met his best friend of the day. Meet Thor:

(this one's bigger because it's my favorite of the whole trip)

And about 5 minutes after playing with Thor, it was time to pass out and go home:

That was our day, how was yours?
(This actually happened yesterday. I had this all typed out and....passed out. I don't feel like changing everything, so sorry if it confused anyone)

    dogs and Renaissance fairs? awesome.
To err is human, to blame someone else shows good management skills.

      Aw, I love this thread!

Your doggies are adorable but I want the little guy the sword guy is holding.
      I need another Chi

Their little fairy friend is cute, too. Did you know the little girl at the elephant ride? I like how she already had patted Callie a few times and then asked if she could pet her.

He had 5 more in the back, along with a Boston Terrier, haha.

And nope! Totally random little girl walking up. She was adorable though
