On Sunday I started getting sick. On Monday afternoon I wound up in the ER with a full blown asthma attack like I haven't had since I had bronchitis when I was 14 or 15.

Today I spoke with the financial adviser at the hospital. My bill is $1543.07. My next paycheck is $128 before taxes.

Get them to sliding scale it. Since you can't afford the care, you should be able to get it cut way down or totally written off.

I agree. Call the billing office ASAP and ask for a charity form.
Fill it out, and make sure you have overwhelming proof that you are superbroke.
Send it in, and make small payments while it's being processed - if you can. (like 10 bux sized).
